Lynx Sweep Sewanee



The Rhodes baseball team swept a three game conference series this weekend.  Rhodes won the first two games of the weekend 17-2 and 13-3 on Saturday, before finishing off the sweep with a 11-3 victory on Sunday.  Rhodes is now 14-11 on the year and 6-3 in SAA play.

In the first game on Saturday, senior RHP Jackson Baker earned his fifth victory of the season as he working the first seven innings.  Baker did not allow an earned run, struck out five, and allowed five hits.  Junior LHP Max Halasz worked the eighth for the Lynx.  Halasz did not allow a hit or run in his lone inning of work before the mercy rule was enacted.  Senior SS Lynden Pindling was 4-5 at the plate with a double, 2 runs scored, 2 RBIs, walked once, and stole a base.  Senior DH Channing Arndt was 3-5 with 2 runs scored and drove in a run.  Senior C Matt Shaw was 2-4 with a double and scored two runs.

In the second game on Saturday, freshman LHP Blake Glauben earned his first collegiate victory working five innings, scattering five hits on 2 runs, walking one, and striking out three.  Freshman RHP Daniel Morris and junior RHP Jackson Roberts finished off the game for the Lynx working one inning apiece.  Junior OF Walker McWherter led the Lynx offensive attack going 3-3 with a triple, 2 runs scored, and drove in four.  Sophomore 2B Justin Genter was 3-3 with a homerun, 2 RBIs, 2 runs scored, and walked once.  Sophomore 3B Josh Keen was 3-5 with a run scored and drove in 2.  Senior DH Matt Burnick was 2-4 with a double and scored a run.  Freshman OF Sam Reid was 1-3 with a homerun, 2 RBIs, and scored a run.

On Sunday, sophomore RHP Thomas Beamish improved to 4-2 on the year as he worked the first five innings, allowing 2 hits and one earned run, while striking out four.  Freshman Saunders Alpaugh worked the sixth and seventh for the Lynx allowing three hits, two runs, and struck out two.  Junior LHP Max Halasz worked the eighth, allowing one hit and struck out one, before the game was called due to rain.  The Lynx offense was led by junior DH Strother White who was 2-3 with a double, two runs scored, drove in a run, and stole a base.  Sophomore C Logan Booksh was 2-3 with 2 RBIs and scored a run.  Senior LF Channing Arndt was 2-5 with a double and scored two runs.  Sophomore 2B Justin Genter was 2-4 with a double and drove in a run.

Rhodes will return to Stauffer Field at 3:00 on Monday against UW-Platteville.
