DANVILLE, Ky. – Rhodes field hockey moves on to the Southern Athletic Association Championship game to face the regular season champions Centre College with their win over Sewanee, 3-0.
Rhodes moves on with an 11-8 record, while the Tigers finish their 2013 season with an 8-8 overall record.
Rhodes controlled the contest from the start, with a
Julie Hertzman unassisted goal at the 10 minute mark. The Lynx would extend their lead before the half when Sewanee scored an own goal, with a
Shauni Cowan assist to make the count 2-0 at the 33rd minute.
Rhodes would get their final score with three minutes left to play when
Mackenzie Busby socred unassisted to give the Lynx a 3-0 lead, a score that would hold up for the remainder of the game.

Kelly Whelan earned all 70 minutes in the contest, snagging four saves and a shutout in the outing.
The Lynx thumped their opponent in the shooting category, taking 20 more shots than the Tigers, by a count of 25-5. Rhodes was also awarded more penalty corners by a tally of 14-3.
Rhodes will face Centre Sunday Nov. 9 at 12 p.m. in the SAA Championship game where the Lynx will fight to win their fifth straight conference tournament title.
