SEWANEE, Tenn. – Rhodes volleyball fell in four sets to SAA rivals Sewanee on Sunday, 3-1.
The loss takes the Lynx to 4-14 and 2-4 in SAA play while Sewanee moves to 12-6 and 3-4 in league play.
The Lynx battled with Sewanee and were close in every set, not losing by more than six points. Rhodes dropped the first two sets 25-23, 25-19. Rhodes rallied to win the third set with a commanding 25-12 set win. The fourth and final set again proved to be a close battle with the Lynx falling by two with a score of 25-23.
Mollie Newbern led all attackers with 15 kills in the outing. Alexis Krall added 13 kills and
Catherine Grimes swung for 10 kills.
Michelle Quina was at the helm for the Lynx, leading in assists with 40 assists.
Maraia Tremarelli sprawled for the most digs, picking up 19 for the Lynx. Grimes added 12 digs with Quina picking up 11.
Rhodes will be back in action next weekend Oct. 12-13 as they host the Fall Break Invitational at Rhodes College.
