ATLANTA, Ga. – Rhodes volleyball defeated Oglethorpe on Saturday in five sets in Southern Athletic Association action.
 
The win bumps the Lynx up to 8-16 and 5-6 in SAA play while the Stormy Petrels fall to 4-13 and 0-11 in the conference.
 
Rhodes got off to a sluggish start, and fell in the first set in extra points, 32-30. The first set featured 17 tied scores and nine lead changes. The Lynx buckled down, winning the second set 25-23 and the third set 25-14. Rhodes gave up the fourth set, 25-22 before bringing home the final set with an impressive 15-5 tally.
 
The Lynx offence was led by senior Alexis Krall, who swung for a game high 23 kills, a slugging percentage of .362 percent. Mollie Newbern added 17 kills herself, with Stephanie Renner and Catherine Grimes each contributing 11 kills in the match.
 
Michelle Quina set up 61 assists, another game high, and a season high for the Farmers Branch, Texas native. Quina also added nine digs.
 
Maraia Tremarelli sprawled for the contests most digs, picking up 30 balls. Grimes also added 24 digs in the contest while Mollie Newbern added 10.
 
Rhodes will finish their road stretch tomorrow as the Lynx face off against conference leaders Berry College on Oct. 20 at 2 p.m.
