LEXINGTON, Va.- Rhodes college completes the sweep this weekend as they defeated Eastern Mennonite University 3-2 to finish the weekend 3-0.

Rhodes moves their overall record to 7-7 while the Royals fall to 3-11 on the year.

The contest proved to be a close defensive battle one as neither team was able to score in the first half. Â Rhodes saw Eastern Mennonite score the first goal at the 47 minute mark when Jenessa Derstine finished a rebound off
Kelly Whelan's pads. While the Lynx got off to a sluggish scoring start they quickly answered after the Royals goal with a Lynx goal just three minutes later.
Kennedy Brislin scored on a penalty stroke, as she connected into the upper left corner of the cage. Rhodes'
Kate Taylor got the game winner for the Lynx as she put away a slap shot on the right side of the cage off a penalty corner making the final count 2-1.

Whelan saw all 70 minutes in the net for the Lynx, grabbing one save in the outing.

The Lynx outshot the Royals by a count of 19-6 and were also awarded more penalty corners, 13-5.

Rhodes will return home for Homecoming weekend as they set up to face Hendrix on Oct. 26 at 1 p.m.
