MEMPHIS, TN. – Rhodes Field Hockey dominated in today's game to defeat Hendrix College 9-0 at home Saturday, October 26, 2013.
The win puts the Lynx at 8-7 overall and 5-2 in league play while Hendrix remains winless at 0-12, 0-7 in the SAA.
All nine goals were scored by a different Lynx, and
Mackenzie Busby who was assisted by
Julie Hertzman started the show to put the Lynx on the board 15 minutes into the first half.
McKenna Wilson connected at the 19 minute mark off a rebound to make the Lynx lead 2-0.
Mary Rose Hazel also buried a shot off a rebound at the 30 minute mark to extend the lead to 3-0.
Katie Johnson would score the final goal of the half at the 33 minute mark when she finished in the bottom left corner, taking the 4-0 lead into the half time break.
Rhodes continued their dominance in the second half as
Evy Royther converted a
Christina DiFelice pass in the opening minute of play.
Julie Hertzman would make the score 6-0 when she buried a
Mary Rose Hazel pass at the 39th minute.
Jordan Kugler scored on a
Margo Richardson pass, finishing a cross at the 53 minute mark. Meghan Fogarty converted a
Corrinne Palmer pass in the 57th minute to make the count 8-0, in favor of Rhodes. The final score of the contest came from the stick of
Christina DiFelice when she finished in the right corner in the final minute of the contest.
Rhodes goal keeper,
Kelly Whelan earned 70 minutes in the outing, snagging four saves.
Rhodes dominated the shot column, out shooting their opponents 37-6. The Lynx also won the corner battle as they were awarded 14 to the Warriors one.
Rhodes will be back in action for the final home game of the season on Nov. 2 at 11 a.m. as they host the rival Sewanee Tigers at Mason Field.
