MEMPHIS, Tenn – The Rhodes College Lynx take home a nail bitter against conference rival Millsaps College, with a hard fought 3-2 victory on Sunday at Mallory Gymnasium.
The win for the Lynx was an important one, improving them to 4-5 in the SAA conference this season, and 6-15 overall. The loss put the Majors at 4-5 in the conference as well, and dropped them to .500 for the season at 11-11.
The Lynx won the first game somewhat easily with a 25-15 victory, but that was the last large margin of victory for either team, with all of the last four games being decided by five points or less. Millsaps won game two 25-21, but Rhodes came back with a 25-23 win in game 3. Millsaps took game four 25-20, and in the pivotal game five the Lynx rallied to win 15-13.
The Lynx were once again led by senior
Michelle Quina, who had 50 assists along with 10 digs and four kills. Senior Lexi Krall had 16 kills for Rhodes, while Mollie Newborn recorded 13 kills herself. Libero
Maraia Tremarelli had 24 digs for the Lynx, covering all over the court.
The Lynx will be back in action at 5pm Sunday, with a non-conference matchup against Muhlenberg College, in the final game of the Fall Invitational.
