MEMPHIS, Tenn. – Rhodes volleyball fell in three straight sets to conference foe Birmingham Southern college on Saturday in the opening match of the Rhodes Fall Invitational.
 
The Loss takes the Lynx to 4-15 and 3-5 in the Southern Athletic Association while the Panthers move to 15-4 and 5-3 in the SAA.
 
The Lynx fought to keep the race tight, losing by only three in the first game, and leading by as much as six in game two before losing 25-20. Rhodes started off the scoring in the deciding game three, but BSC went on an 11-2 run to finish the game, winning 25-13.
 
Rhodes College was led by Senior Setter Michele Quina, who had 15 assists, three kills and two digs. Freshman Catherine Grimes recorded six kills for the Lynx, along with 13 digs and three assists. Junior Mollie Newborn also contributed seven kills for Rhodes, while Libero Maraia Tremarelli led the Lynx with 14 digs.    
 
The Lynx will be back in action today at 5 p.m. against Rust College.
