April 1, 2012
On a special day at the ball park, one in which Rhodes College celebrated the careers of their three seniors (
Elise Suna,
Chelsea Peters and
Kelli Zomer), the Lynx dropped the final two games of their four game set with Birmingham Southern by the scores of 10-0, 3-0.
In game one, BSC got on the score board in the first inning thanks to two homeruns; one a solo shot and the other with one runner on. The three runs deficit remained intact until the six inning when BSC capitalized on Rhodes miscuses and plated six runners pushing the score to 10-0. In the bottom of the six inning, the Lynx were unable to score and the game was called.
In game two, senior
Chelsea Peters took to the circle and pitched seven strong innings, ending her home career by striking out her last batter faced. Unfortunately, game two of the Sunday set, game four of the series, saw the same offensive struggles that plagues the Lynx throughout the entire weekend, Rhodes dropped game two by the count of 3-0.
The losses saw the Lynx fall to 12-11-1 on the season and 4-4 in SCAC play.
The home game was the last for seniors
Elise Suna,
Chelsea Peters and
Kelli Zomer, all of which rank in the top five of multiple career records while at Rhodes.
