The lady lynx tennis team faced a tough opponent this past Saturday. They faced nationally ranked #14 Washington University in St. Louis on our home courts. Although the result didn't quite go in the Lynx favor this was a great experience for the young team in their season opener.
Rhodes did come away with a positive note for the weekend. Sophmore
Maggie Donoghue, Rhodes #1 singles player, pulled out a huge match in defeating Evelyn Qin of Wash U 4-6,6-4,10-2 . Donoghue has been working very hard on developing a more solid and consistent backhand this year. Her hard work payed off this past weekend as new found confidence in her backhand was able to help Maggie claw her way to a big upset in her first competition of the Spring. Qin is currently ranked #48 in the nation for Division III women. Great win Maggie!
With this early loss the team will be able to work on their weaknesses and prepare for their next opponent. The women are back in action this weekend against Hendrix in Conway, AR as they look to take down a conference foe at their home courts.
