The Rhodes Lynx use a second half rally to steal their 10th conference victory over the Millsaps Majors on Saturday, February 11th. Trailing 55 to 53 with 11 seconds remaining, Junior Andrew Galow drove the length of the court and connected with classmate Theo Hartwell under the basket for a layup with 4.8 seconds left. Millsaps attempted to catch the Lynx off guard with a half court pass, but Sophomore Patrick McGrail intercepted it and the Lynx used a timeout to draw up a final shot with 1.8 seconds remaining and the score tied at 55. Galow inbounded the ball to a cutting Johnny Dunavant, who squared up and drained a 28 foot three pointer from the right wing. The Lynx bench cleared as they stole the 58 to 55 victory at the buzzer.

Millsaps came out strong and the Lynx fell behind by double digits early, trailing 13 to 3 over the first five minutes of the game. Although the Lynx weren't able to get into a flow, they weathered the storm and managed to keep the game close going into the locker room at half. Rhodes was behind by five, 32 to 27. The Majors were led by Junior Guard Taylor Meades who connected on two threes and had a game-high 8 points at the half.

It was more of the same from the Lynx early in the second half as they were unable to get going. Millsaps opened the biggest lead of the night with 9:19 remaining at 12 points, 47 to 35. From that point forward, the Lynx dug in defensively and climbed back into the game.

Three-point field goals by Galow, Dunavant, and Senior Kory Kilpatrick brought the Lynx back. An offensive rebound put-back by Junior Theo Hartwell tied the game at 50, the closest the Lynx had been since the opening tip.

It would continue to go back and forth down the stretch. The following possesions the Majors grabbed the lead back, as Meades connected on one of his five three pointers to take a 53 to 50 lead with 1:37 to go. Less than a minute later, the Lynx lone Senior Kory Kilpatrick stepped up and knocked down a three of his own with 45 seconds left to tie the game.

The Majors would not quit as they hit a jumper with 11 seconds remaining to take a 55 - 53 lead. Galow would find Hartwell and Dunavant over the last 11 seconds as the Lynx grabbed an unlikely victory in regulation.

With the win the Lynx move to 15-8 overall and 10-4 in the SCAC. Rhodes will finish the season on the road at the University of the South on Friday, and Centre College on Sunday. Both games will determine if the Lynx will claim the #2 or #3 seed in the SCAC conference tournament.
