The Lynx went on the road and became warriors on Friday, January 13th as they fought off several charges from the University of Dallas Crusaders on their way to a 86 - 74 victory. Rhodes continued to attack the paint, while the Crusaders perimeter shots were falling as they were caught up in a tight one through the first twenty minutes. Opening the second half, the Lynx defense stiffened and Rhodes continued to make good things happen inside on their way to this road win.
The first half was a mix of styles offensively, but a high-scoring affair none-the-less. Rhodes pounded the ball in the paint, scoring 25 points there in the first half, while Dallas' perimeter shot making was the key to them putting shots on the board. Rhodes shot 48% in the first half, while the Crusaders connected from the outside for a first half of 50% shooting. Heading into the locker room, the Lynx grabbed a slight 39 - 37 lead.
Rhodes opened the second half offensively just they way they started the game - attacking the paint. The defense stiffened and the Lynx were able to grab several double digit leads throughout the second half. No matter, Dallas did not go away as they continued to make outside shots, going 8 for 19 in the half. Finally, with 3:20 remaining, Sophomore
Patrick McGrail knocked down a three-point field goal to give the Lynx a fifteen point advantage. The University of Dallas continued to play the foul game down to the end, but the Lynx remained victorious with a 86 to 74 road win.
It truly was a team victory as the Lynx finished the night with five players scoring in double figures and a total of 18 assists. Senior
Kory Kilpatrick, Sophomore
Johnny Dunavant, and Freshman Geoff Livsey led the way scoring 13 points apiece.
Andrew Galow had a rough night shooting the ball, but added 6 assists and 5 rebounds.
With the win, the Lynx move to 5-1 in the SCAC and 10-5 overall. The road will continue to be tough on the Lynx as they play Austin College (5-1) in Sherman, Texas tomorrow at 8pm.
