The Rhodes College Baseball team defeated #15 Mississippi College this afternoon 12-10 on a walkoff grandslam by freshman
Stewart Martens. Rhodes was able to over come a 5-1 deficit with a 6 run sixth inning to take a 7-5 lead. Mississippi College put up 3 in top of the seventh before Rhodes answered with a single run to knot the game at 8. Mississippi College plated 2 in the top of the ninth to take a 10-8 lead heading into the Lynx final at-bat. Rhodes loaded the bases for Martens who delievered the game winning grand slam with two outs. Senior Andy Meier picked up the victory for the Lynx to improve to 1-0 on the year.
Sophomore
Tony Pikos made his second start of the season this afternoon, throwing 2.2 innings, allowing 9 hits, 5 earned runs, 2 walkes and struck out 2. Senior
Hunter Chandler kept the Lynx in the game working the next 3.1 innings, allowing 3 hits, 3 unearned runs, no walks, and struck out 2. Senior
Taylor Babich worked the next 2.1 innings before giving way to Meier who would finish off the ninth inning for the Lynx. Babich allowed 4 hits, 2 earned runs, 1 walk, and struck out 2. Meier needed only 2 pitches to get the inning ending double play and set up Martens heroic homerun.

Brent Lindsey was 2-4 on the day with a homerun, double, run scored, 3 RBIs, and walked once. Senior C

Matt Burnick delievered a huge pinch hit 2 RBI double for the Lynx.
Rhodes will return to action this Friday at 2:00 against visiting Emory University.
