The Rhodes College baseball team defeated DePauw University 10-5 this afternoon in Greencastle, IN.  Rhodes jumped out to an early 4-1 lead after the first, and stretched the lead to 10-1 after five.  Depauw answered with 4 runs in the bottom of the 7th, but senior Max Gertz was able to stop the Tiger rally after relieving Lynx starter Hunter Chandler with outs in the 7th.  Chandler picked up his 2nd victory of the year, to improve to 20-7 and 6-1 in SCAC play.

Making his first start of the year, Chandler worked 6.2 innings, allowed 9 hits, 5 runs, 4 earned runs, 2 walks, and struck out 4.  Chandler is now 2-0 on the year.  Max Gertz finished off the game working the final 2.1 innings, allowed no hits, no runs, gave up 2 walks, and struck out 2. 

The Lynx offense was led by junior 1B Brent Lindsey who went 3-4 with a home run, double, 3 runs, 3 RBIs, and a walk.  Senior 2B Andy Boucher went 2-5 on the day with 2 runs, and drove in 1.  Junior DH Matt Gilbert went 3-5 on the day.

Rhodes will return to action with a double header against DePauw starting at 11:00.
