Rhodes and Centre split a SCAC doubleheader this afternoon in Danville, KY, with the Lynx taking the first game 10-2 before falling to the Colonels 2-0 in the second game.  Rhodes is 21-13 on the season and 2-8 in the SCAC, while Centre is 15-15 overall and 5-5 in the SCAC.  The two teams will meet tomorrow at Noon in another doubleheader.

Centre struck first in game 1 with a run in the bottom of the 3rd, when Taylor Childress singled to lead off the inning, and advanced to third on an error by the Lynx left fielder.  Childress would score on a single from Rachel Akins to give the Colonels the early 1-0 lead.

Rhodes quickly answered with 4 runs in the top half of the 4th, scoring all 4 runs with 2 outs.  With 2 outs and the bases empty, Elise Suna singled and Armanda Venezia was hit by a pitch to put runners at first and second.  Katie Stich drew a walk, loading the bases for Jennifer Whatley.  Whatley singled up the middle to score Suna and tie the game at 1, then Kelli Zomer delivered a bases-clearing double to give the Lynx a 4-1 lead.

Rhodes added a run in the 5th when Allison Conn singled and later scored from third on a double steal, and added another run in the 6th on a leadoff single from Katie Stich, who later scored on a fielders' choice groundout by Megan Matthews to take a 6-1 lead into the 7th.

Allison Conn and Rebekah Moore led off the Lynx 7th with consecutive singles, followed by an RBI double from Sara Bowen and a 2 run double from Elise Suna to give the Lynx a 9-1 lead.  Suna would score the Lynx final run on an RBI single from Olivia Ryan, gving the Lynx a 10-1 lead.  Centre added a run in the bottom of the 7th to cut the lead to 10-2, but Lynx hurler Sara Bowen got the final out to seal the win.

Bowen improved to 10-5 on the season, giving up 8 hits and striking out 6 to earn the complete game victory in the circle.  Bowen and Suna each had 3 hits to pace the Lynx offense.

In game 2, Rhodes loaded the bases with 1 out in the top of the first, but a nice backhand play by Centre third baseman Elizabeth Fenwick resulted in a rally-killing double play.  The Colonels picked up a run in the second when Chelsea Collard  reached on a dropped third strike and later scored on an RBI single from Caitlyn Teague to take a 1-0 lead.

Centre added to their lead in the 3rd, when Taylor Childress led off by reaching  on a 3-base error by the Lynx right fielder, then scoring on a groundout by Fenwick, giving the Colonels a 2-0 lead after 3 innings.  Rhodes threatened several times over the last 4 innings, but were unable to get the big hit.  The Lynx had runners in scoring position in 6 of the 7 innings, but stranded 10 runners on base, including 5 over the final 2 innings.

Chelsea Peters took the loss in the circle for Rhodes, despite giving up just 4 hits and no earned runs, and falls to 9-8 on the season.  Conn led the Lynx offense with a pair of singles, while Zomer, Matthews, and Moore each had 1 single.
