Rhodes used solo home runs from
Elise Suna,
Olivia Ryan and
Kelli Zomer on their way to a 5-2 win over MacMurray in game 1, as
Cindy Bitters earned her first win of the season in the circle. In game 2,
Chelsea Peters tossed her 3rd shutout of the season and improved to 6-2, as the Lynx jumped out to an 8-0 lead after 1 inning and cruised to a 15-0 win. Rhodes improves to 10-4 and returns to action Thursday against Blackburn.
In game 1, Zomer and Suna were each 3 for 3 with a home run, with Zomer scoring 3 of the Lynx 5 runs. Bitters gave up just 5 hits and struck out 7 in 6 innings of work in just her second start of the season after off-season elbow surgery.
Sara Bowen struck out the side in the 7th for her second save of the season to seal the 5-2 victory.
Rhodes scored 8 times in the first inning of game 2, with the help of 4 walks and Zomer's second home run of the day, and added 5 more runs on 7 singles in the second to take a 13-0 lead after 2 innings. The final 2 runs came in the 3rd on an RBI double from Bitters, who would later come around to score on a single from Ryan.
Peters gave up 5 hits in 5 innings of work, tossing her third shutout of the season and improving to 6-2.
Jennifer Whatley went 3 for 3 with an RBI at the plate, while
Olivia Ryan was 2 for 3 with 3 RBI to lead the Lynx offense.
