The Rhodes Baseball team split their games this afternoon with Centre College, winning 4-2, while dropping the second 5-0 in Danville, KY.  In the first game, the Lynx trailed 2-1 in the top of the seventh with 1 out when junior Austin Marcum hit a pinch hit home run to deep right center to tie the game and then junior DH Brent Lindsey followed up with a two run shot to left center three hitters later to put the Lynx up 4-2.  Sophomore Austin Carden picked up his 5th win of the season and junior Hunter Chandler collected his 4th save of the season.  In the second game Rhodes got 2 hit by the Centre pitching staff, as freshmen Tony Pikos took the loss for the Lynx.  Rhodes is now 18-7 on the year and 3-1 in SCAC play.

In the first game of the day, Austin Carden worked the first 6 innings of the 7 inning game, allowing 4 hits, 2 earned runs, 2 walks, and struck out 9.  Carden is now 5-2 on the year.  Chandler finished off the game in the bottom of the 7th, needing only 4 pitches to get 3 ground balls to end the game and collect his 4th save.

The Lynx offense was led by junior DH Brent Lindsey who was 1-3 with a home run, 2 runs, and 2 RBIs.  Senior 2B Andy Boucher was 2-4 on the day.  Junior CF Andy Meier was 2-3 with a walk.  Junior RF Matt Gilbert was 2-4 with an RBI.

In the second game, Pikos worked 4.1 innings, allowing 4 hits, 5 runs, all earned, walked 3, and struck out 9.  Sophomore Remick Smothers finished off the fifth for the Lynx.  Chandler then threw the 6th and 7th allowing 1 hit and struck out 1.  Senior Max Gertz threw the 8th and allowed 1 hit.

Rhodes will finish off the 3 game set with Centre tomorrow at 12:00.
