The Rhodes College baseball team defeated visiting Oglethorpe University 4-2 and 16-4 this afternoon at Stauffer Field.  In the first conference games of the year for both teams, the Lynx drew first blood with two runs in the bottom of the 1st and would add another 2 in the bottom of the 3rd.  Oglethorpe would put up 2 runs of their own in the top of the 6th but relievers Remick Smothers and Hunter Chandler were able to keep the damage to a minimum.  Freshman Tony Pikos collected his first collegiate win in the first game, as he is now 1-1 on the year.  In the second half of the double header, the Lynx once again jumped ahead early, scoring 5 in the first.  Rhodes would extend their lead to 9-3 after 3 innings and put the game away with a 7 run 6th, before the mercy rule was enacted in the bottom of the 7th.  Freshman Jackson Baker earned his 3rd victory of the year, as he improves to 3-1 on the year.
