The Rhodes College baseball team defeated LaGrange College 19-5 in LaGrange, GA to take the second game of the Rawlings Classic.  The Rhodes offense got things going with a 8 run fourth and never looked back, pounding out 18 hits and taking advantage of 9 walks and 3 hit batters for their highest offensive output of the year.  Junior Taylor Babich picked up his second victory of the year as the Lynx improve to 7-1 on the year.

Babich, who worked the first five innings, allowed 6 hits, 5 runs, 2 earned runs, walked 2, and struck out 3.  Babich is now 2-0 on the year.  Sophomore Remick Smothers worked a perfect sixth inning before giving way to freshman Tony Pikos in the seventh.  Pikos allowed one walk in his only inning.  Freshman John White allowed one hit and struck out two in the eighth.  Freshman James Todd finished off the game in the ninth striking out one.  The Lynx bullpen combined for 4 innings, no runs, 1 hit, 1 walk, and struck out 3.

The Lynx offense was led by freshman 2B Nick Belisle who went 3-5 with a grandslam, his first collegiate homerun, 3 runs, 7 RBIs, walked once, got hit by a pitch, and stole a base.  Sophomore LF Travis Perkins was 2-3 with a double, 2 runs scored, drove in one, walked one, and stole a base.  Junior RF Brent Lindsey went 3-5 with a double, scored twice, drove in 3, and stole a base.  Freshman SS Lynden Pindling went 2-3 with a double, 2 runs scored, 2 RBIs, and walked once.  Junior 3B Kyle Peterson went 1-3 with 2 runs and drove in a run.

Rhodes will return to actions tomorrow morning at 10:00 EST against York College at Emory University.
