Game Recap: Rhodes vs. MUW
The Rhodes College women's soccer team continued its perfect start to the 2026 season with a dominant 9-0 victory over Mississippi University for Women on Sept. 8 at Rhodes Soccer Field in Memphis, Tenn. The Lynx improved to 3-0-0 on the season after scoring seven goals in the opening half and adding two more in the second half.
Rhodes wasted no time finding the back of the net, with
Ella Mullally scoring just 24 seconds into the match off an assist from
Maddie Carter. The Lynx continued to pour on the offense throughout the opening half, building a 7-0 advantage by halftime.
Key Performances
Aurelia Kirby led the offensive attack with two goals and an assist. Kirby scored twice in the opening 11 minutes before assisting on
Annie Cimino's goal in the 14th minute.
Mullally opened the scoring just 24 seconds into the match, while Cimino added a goal of her own off an assist from Kirby.
Ellie Lawrence,
Erin Cliff and
Lina Kilgore each added goals during the first half, with Lawrence assisted by
Mallory Goldstein and Cliff assisted by
Emily Russum.
Carter added a second-half goal in the 53rd minute, scoring off an assist from Kirby.
Sydney Gallagher capped the scoring in the 81st minute with an assist from
Jane Volf.
Game Highlights
Rhodes completely controlled the match offensively, outshooting MUW 44-0 and recording 25 shots on goal. The Lynx also held an 18-0 advantage in corner kicks.
The Lynx scored seven times in the opening 32 minutes, including four goals in the first 14 minutes. Rhodes entered halftime with a 7-0 lead before Carter and Gallagher added second-half goals to complete the 9-0 shutout.
Rhodes' defense also delivered a dominant performance, holding MUW without a single shot or shot on goal throughout the match. The Lynx did not concede a goal and committed just two fouls compared to four for MUW.
With the victory, Rhodes improves to 3-0-0 on the season.
