Game Recap: Rhodes vs. Huntingdon College
The Rhodes College men's soccer team battled Huntingdon College to a 1-1 draw on Sept. 4 at Rhodes Soccer Field in Memphis, Tenn. The Lynx controlled much of the match offensively, outshooting Huntingdon 18-4 and earning eight corner kicks while limiting the Hawks to just two shots on goal.
Key Performances
Luke Grant provided the equalizer for the Lynx in the 56th minute, finding the back of the net at 55:56 off an assist from
Zach Cardona.
Cardona played a key role in the Rhodes attack, setting up Grant's goal just under three minutes after Huntingdon opened the scoring.
In goal,
Henri Kettner recorded one save as the Lynx limited Huntingdon to just four total shots and two shots on goal.
Game Highlights
Rhodes controlled the opening half, recording seven shots and five corner kicks while keeping Huntingdon off the scoreboard. The Hawks broke through early in the second half scoring in the 54th minute.
The Lynx responded quickly, with Grant finding the back of the net just 2:43 later off Cardona's assist to even the match at 1-1.
Rhodes continued to apply pressure throughout the remainder of the contest, finishing with an 18-4 advantage in shots and an 8-1 edge in corner kicks. Despite recording 11 second-half shots, the Lynx could not find a go-ahead goal, and the match ended in a 1-1 draw.
