Women's Soccer Opens Season with 2-0 Win Over Westminster

Game Recap: Rhodes vs. Westminster College (Mo.)

The Rhodes College women's soccer team opened the 2026 season with a 2-0 victory over Westminster (Mo.) on Sept. 1 at Kent & Judith Mueller Stadium. The Lynx controlled the match offensively, outshooting Westminster 15-3 and earning five corner kicks while holding the Blue Jays to just two shots on goal.

Key Performances

Freshman, Hadley Carrington led the scoring effort for the Lynx with two goals, scoring twice in a 21-second span late in the first half. Carrington first found the back of the net at 35:38 off an assist from Kyleigh Wilson before adding her second goal at 35:59, this time assisted by Erin Cliff.

The Lynx Goalkeepers recorded two saves to help preserve the shutout, with one save coming in each half. Rhodes' defensive effort limited Westminster to three total shots and just two shots on goal.

Game Highlights

Rhodes applied pressure throughout the opening half, recording 12 shots and four corner kicks before halftime. The Lynx broke through in the 36th minute when Carrington scored off Wilson's assist. Just 21 seconds later, Rhodes doubled its advantage when Carrington converted another opportunity, this time with Cliff providing the assist.

Rhodes carried the 2-0 lead into halftime and maintained control after the break. The Lynx added three more shots and another corner kick in the second half while keeping Westminster off the scoreboard to secure the season-opening shutout.
