Women's Track and Field Finish Day 2 of the SAA Championships

The Rhodes Women's Track & Field team close out the conference championships in 4th out of 8 teams. Throughout the event, the lynx scored valuable points and  had standout performances across the track and field. Below are the highlights of the various events.

Sprints & Hurdles

Rhodes had strong performances in several event finals. Tanilya Clark, Tatum Duncan, Shannen Aleck, and Olivia Freeman competed in the 4x100 Meter relay and took 4th with a time of 47.87. The 4x400 meter team took 2nd place with a time of 3:57.14, including teammates Kate Hinson-Hume, Tatum Duncan, Shannen Aleck, and Olivia Freeman

In the 400 meter final, first-year Tatum Duncan placed 3rd with a time of 58.89. In the 100 meter dash, senior Olivia Freeman took 2nd in the finals with a time of 12.04. These two athletes additionally competed in the 200 meter dash and took times of 25.03 and 25.19, respectively. 

Junior Shannen Aleck placed 2nd in the 400 Meter hurdles with a time of 1:04.91

Distance Highlights
 Rhodes scored valuable team points with Elena Gentry placing 4th with a time of 18:01.1 in the 5000 meter run. Junior Anna Cantrell competed in the 1500 meter run and finished in 3rd with a time of 4:43.04. 

In the 800 meter run, Kate Hinson-Hume finished in 3rd with a time of 2:17.27, with her teammate Anna Cantrell not far behind with a time of 2:22.54. Senior Ellie spears also competed and earned a point for Rhodes in this event, with a time of 2:22.54.

Field Events

In the high jump, Shannen Aleck finished in 2nd place with a clear jump of 1.62 meters.

Andrea Holland represented Rhodes in the Discuss throw and put up a respectable 25.70 meter distance. She also represented Rhodes in the Shot Put event and through a distance of 10.42 meters. 

Looking Ahead

The team finished in 4th amongst 8 teams in the Championship. The lynx will be heading to University of Saint Francis to compete in the Fighting Chance Invitational on May 8th. Fans are encouraged to support the team as they head to this invitaitonal.
