Women's Lacrosse Tops Sewanee to Claim Regular Season Title

Game Recap: Rhodes College vs. Sewanee
In one of the biggest matchups of the season with conference standings on the line, the Rhodes College Women's Lacrosse Team delivered a statement performance, overpowering Sewanee 16-7 on April 25th in Sewanee, Tennessee. With intensity from the opening whistle and relentless execution on both ends of the field, the Lynx controlled the pace, won every momentum swing, and proved exactly why they are the team to beat in the Southern Athletic Association. The victory secured Rhodes as the No. 1 seed heading into the SAA Conference Tournament, capping an undefeated 5-0 conference record and sending a clear message to the rest.

Key Performances
Caroline Kardian was unstoppable, exploding for five goals and four assists for a dominant nine-point performance. Time and time again, Kardian broke down the defense, attacked with confidence, and delivered in every critical moment like collecting 7 draw controls.

Payton Stevens added another electric performance with four goals and one assist, consistently stretching the field and finishing with authority. Her aggressive play helped Rhodes keep pressure on Sewanee all afternoon.

Sadie McRae continued to impact every phase of the game with two goals and one assist, while Delaney O'Mailey scored twice and created constant pressure in transition.

Defensively, the Lynx were just as fierce. Maddie BeVier battled all over the field with seven ground balls, three caused turnovers and 2 draw controls, helping Rhodes dominate possession and disrupt Sewanee's rhythm. Sam Horowitz collected five ground balls and caused two turnovers to help gain possession for the Lynx. In goal, freshman standout Annabelle Kinzel was sensational, making 12 saves in a clutch performance while reaching 100 career saves. Her poise, reactions, and timely stops slammed the door on every Sewanee comeback attempt.

Game Highlights
Rhodes opened the contest with physical defense and confident attacking play, taking an early lead on a Lucy Carter finish before Stevens answered after Sewanee tied it. The Lynx then turned the second quarter into a takeover, scoring four times and holding Sewanee to just one goal to seize complete control. After halftime, Rhodes raised the intensity even higher. Kardian buried a man-down goal, Stevens ripped in another finish, and Horowitz added one of her own as the Lynx stretched the lead beyond reach. Every time Sewanee showed signs of life, Rhodes answered immediately. After a long weather delay, the final quarter became a celebration of Rhodes' dominance. Kardian scored three more times, Stevens added another on the free-position chance, and the Lynx closed the game with authority to finish off one of their strongest performances of the season.

Up Next: Rhodes vs. No. 4 Oglethorpe University

As the conference's top seed entering tournament play, Rhodes will look to keep rolling and continue its march toward an SAA Championship.
