Game Recap: No. 1 Rhodes vs. No. 4 Oglethorpe University

In a commanding postseason performance, the Rhodes College women's lacrosse team defeated No. 4 Oglethorpe 19–4 on April 30 at Mason Field in Memphis, Tennessee in the SAA Semifinal. The Lynx set the tone early with an explosive first quarter and never looked back, showcasing their offensive depth and defensive control on their home field.

Rhodes overwhelmed Oglethorpe from the opening draw, scoring nine goals in the first quarter and holding the Stormy Petrels scoreless through the first half. The dominant start reflected the Lynx's sharp execution and ability to capitalize in transition and settled offense alike.

Key Performances

Delaney O'Mailey led the way with a dominant outing, recording six goals and consistently finding space in the attacking third.

A balanced scoring effort followed, as Payton Stevens, Maddie BeVier, Sadie McRae, Sam Horowitz, and Alban Erdle each added two goals, while Riley Schutt, Lucy Carter, and Caroline Kardian also contributed to the scoring column.

Rhodes excelled in all phases, converting on man-up and man-down opportunities while maintaining control of possession and tempo throughout the contest.

Game Highlights

The Lynx wasted no time taking control, opening the game with a 9–0 run in the first quarter fueled by strong ball movement and aggressive attacking play.

Rhodes extended the lead to 12–0 at halftime, continuing to pressure defensively and limit scoring chances. The Lynx added three more goals in the third quarter before closing out the game with four in the fourth, cruising to the 19–4 semifinal victory.

Up Next: SAA Championship vs. No. 2 Sewanee

With the win, Rhodes advances to the SAA Championship, where they will face No. 2 Sewanee on Saturday at noon on Mason Field in Memphis. The Lynx will look to carry their dominant semifinal performance into the title matchup as they aim to capture the conference championship on their home turf.
