Men's Golf Opens Play at SAA Conference Championships

Rhodes College opened play at the SAA Championships on Friday at Greystone Golf Club in Dickson, Tennessee, finishing fifth overall after the first round. The Lynx posted a team score of 293 (+5) and remain in position heading into the final two rounds of championship competition.

Round 1

Rhodes was led by Sujay Mukatira, who turned in the team's top score with a 1-under 71. His round placed him tied for seventh overall after day one and gave the Lynx an under-par anchor to begin the tournament.

Parker Tenent followed with a strong even-paced round of 1-over 73, putting him tied for 16th individually.

Christian Iwai added a solid 2-over 74 and sits tied for 20th, while Josh Phillips carded a 3-over 75 to finish the opening round tied for 25th.

Chase Austin rounded out the scoring lineup with a 7-over 79, placing tied for 40th. Brooks Beach also competed for Rhodes and posted an 81 (+9).

Team Standings

After the opening round, Rhodes sits fifth in the team standings at +5. Sewanee leads the championship at 11-under, followed by Oglethorpe (-5), Centre (+1), and Trinity (+2).

Looking Ahead

With two rounds remaining, the Lynx remain within striking distance of the teams ahead and will look to build momentum moving into Saturday's second round as they continue the pursuit of the conference championship.
