Women’s Lacrosse Drops Hard-Fought Contest to No. 19 Rowan

Game Recap: Rhodes vs. No. 19 Rowan University 

In an emotional and high-energy American Cancer Society dedication game, the Lynx fell to No. 19 Rowan University by a final score of 17–12 at Mason Field. Despite the final result, the contest showcased Rhodes' fast-paced offense and they played for something larger than themselves against a nationally ranked opponent.

Key Performances

Alban Erdle led the Lynx offensively with four goals, consistently attacking the cage and capitalizing on scoring opportunities. Maddie BeVier added three goals, converting efficiently while also making a strong impact across the midfield with 4 draw controls.

Sam Horowitz played a pivotal all-around role, finishing with two goals and two assists while helping initiate Rhodes' possession with 6 draw controls. Caroline Kardian contributed two goals and an assist, while Delaney O'Mailey added a goal to round out a balanced offensive effort.

Defensive Effort

Rhodes remained active defensively against Rowan's high-powered attack, finishing with 12 ground balls and two caused turnovers while competing hard in draw control situations with 22 draw controls. Maddie BeVier stood out with four draw controls and strong possession play, while Caroline Kardian led the team with nine draw controls, helping Rhodes generate key opportunities in transition.

Rory Monahan and Berit Isenberg each contributed multiple ground balls, while Payton Stevens added three ground balls to support the defensive effort. In goal, Annabelle Kinzel recorded eight saves, making several key stops to keep Rhodes within low goal differentials throughout the game.

Game Highlights

Rhodes came out with intensity, opening the game on a 5–3 run in the first quarter behind early goals from Horowitz, Kardian, and Erdle. The Lynx carried that momentum into the second quarter, extending their lead to 6–3 before Rowan responded with a late surge to take an 11–7 halftime lead.The Lynx refused to back down, rallying in the third quarter with a 4–3 scoring edge, highlighted by back-to-back goals from Horowitz and Erdle that chipped away at the deficit. Rhodes continued to push in the fourth, cutting the lead to 14–12, but Rowan closed the game with a late run.
