Women's Tennis Starts Season 1-0

The Rhodes College women's tennis team earned a 6–1 victory over Freed-Hardeman University Saturday morning, using a strong doubles showing and depth in singles play to secure the win.

Rhodes claimed the doubles point with wins at No. 1 and No. 2. Lilly Higgins and Agda Laakso opened the day with a 6-4 victory at the top spot, while Gracie Rask and Violet Taub matched that score at No. 2 doubles. Freed-Hardeman took the No. 3 doubles match, 6-4.

In singles action, the Lynx won five of six courts to seal the team victory.

Rask delivered a dominant 6-0, 6-2 win at No. 2 singles, and Taylor Nash closed out a 6-3, 6-3 decision at No. 6. Higgins battled through a tight contest at No. 3 singles, earning the win in straight sets, while Claudia Ribeiro and Sofia Rodriguez each picked up victories at Nos. 5 and 4, respectively.

Freed-Hardeman's lone point came at No. 1 singles in a competitive match that featured two closely contested sets.

With the win, Rhodes continues to build momentum as the Lynx move forward in their spring schedule.
