The Rhodes Women's Track & Field team competed in the SAA Indoor Track and Field Championships, hosted by Centre College this weekend. Across two days of competition, the Lynx combined podium finishes, clutch relay performances, and a wave of personal bests to deliver a very strong championship showing!
Sprints & Hurdles
Senior Olivia Freeman led the charge in the short sprints, earning Runner-Up honors in the 60m (7.62) — a personal best and the top qualifying time out of prelims. Freeman doubled back in the 200m to place 5th (26.25), adding more key points to the team total. Freeman's 60m time currently ranks 15th in the NCAA!
Freshman Tatum Duncan had a breakout championship weekend. She placed 5th in the 60m (7.85), then delivered a huge performance in the 200m, finishing 3rd overall (25.57). Duncan also advanced to the 400m final and placed 4th (1:00.15), capping an impressive triple-event scoring effort. Duncan was also named the SAA Women's Rookie of the Year.
Junior Shannen Alack posted a personal best in the 60m hurdles (10.12) while also competing in the 400m. Teammate Gracie Ebenhoh recorded a personal best in the 400m (1:05.00) during prelims, highlighting continued progression in the sprint group.
Distance Highlights
The middle-distance squad delivered major points and multiple PR performances:
Anna Cantrell was dominant, placing 2nd in the 800m (2:19.55) and 2nd in the Mile (5:11.23) — scoring 16 points across the two events.
Kate Hinson-Hume earned a personal best in the 800m (2:21.56), finishing 3rd overall. Ellie Spears added a scoring finish in the 800m, placing 8th (2:25.18).
Caroline Wilder delivered a personal best in the Mile (5:34.79) to place 7th and score for Rhodes.
In the longer distances, Elena Gentry secured a strong 4th-place finish in the 5000m (18:08.33), while Riley Imbornone led the 3,000m group in 10:56.75.
Relays
Rhodes excelled in the relays, earning two runner-up finishes:
4x400 Relay (Shannen Alack, Olivia Freeman, Anna Cantrell, Tatum Duncan) – 2nd place, 4:02.80
Distance Medley Relay (Kate Hinson-Hume, Shannen Alack, Ellie Spears, Riley Imbornone) – 2nd place, 12:42.04
Both squads showcased depth and composure, closing hard to secure crucial team points.
Field Events
Junior Shannen Alack added to her scoring total with a 4th-place finish in the High Jump (1.55m).
In the horizontal jumps, freshman Tanilya Clark recorded a personal best in the Long Jump (5.23m) to place 8th and score for the Lynx.
In the pole vault, Mia Pulliam cleared a personal best 2.65m, while freshman Nora Rosenberg topped out at 2.80m in a competitive field.
Freshman Andrea Holland represented Rhodes in the throws, recording marks of 10.11m in the shot put and 9.74m in the weight throw.
From senior leadership to underclassmen stepping into major scoring roles, the Lynx delivered when it mattered most. Multiple personal bests across sprints, hurdles, distance, and field events highlighted the team's growth and preparation heading into championship season.
Rhodes finished 4th overall with 79 team points, a testament to their depth and ability to capitalize on scoring opportunities across the board. With momentum clearly building, the Lynx now shift their focus to the outdoor season, opening competition next weekend at the Mississippi College Season Opener as they look to carry this championship energy into the next phase of competition.
