Match Recap vs. Kenyon College
The Rhodes College men's tennis team opened its 2026 spring campaign on the road Saturday morning, falling 7–0 to No. 13 Kenyon College at the Jasper Tennis Center.
The Lynx (0-1) faced a tough test in their season opener against the nationally ranked Owls (3-0), who secured the doubles point and carried that momentum into singles play to complete the sweep.
Kenyon claimed all three doubles matches to take the early 1-0 advantage. At No. 1 doubles,
Oliver Bonovich and
Christian Mainella battled Paulo Pocasangre and Alejandro Gonzalez but came up short, 6-4. The Owls clinched the doubles point with wins at No. 2 and No. 3 doubles.
In singles action, Kenyon continued its strong play, earning straight-set victories across all six courts. Bonovich competed at the top singles position, while Mainella slotted in at No. 2.
Paul Fridman,
Owen Fellrath,
Topher Thornberry, and
Nicholas Miloi rounded out the singles lineup for Rhodes.
Despite the final score, the match provided valuable early-season experience for the Lynx against one of the top programs in Division III.
Match Recap vs. Oberlin College
The Rhodes College men's tennis team dropped a tightly contested 4–3 decision to Oberlin College Friday afternoon at the Jasper Tennis Center.
The Lynx (0-1) came out strong in doubles play, securing the opening point with victories on courts one and two.
Oliver Bonovich and
Christian Mainella earned a 6-2 win at No. 1 doubles, while
Owen Fellrath and
Topher Thornberry matched that score at No. 2 to give Rhodes a 1-0 lead. Oberlin claimed the No. 3 doubles match, 6-4.
Rhodes extended its lead in singles action behind impressive performances at the top of the lineup. At No. 1 singles, Bonovich battled through a competitive second set to defeat Shawn Lisann 6-2, 7-6 (7-1). Mainella followed with a straight-set victory at No. 2 singles, 6-4, 6-3, pushing the Lynx advantage to 3-0.
However, Oberlin (1-0) responded by winning the final four singles matches to complete the comeback. The Yeomen secured straight-set wins at Nos. 3, 4, and 6 singles and pulled out a tight contest at No. 5 singles to clinch the match.
Match Recap vs. Otterbein University
The Rhodes College men's tennis team closed out its weekend in strong fashion with a 6–1 victory over Otterbein University Sunday morning.
The Lynx took two of three doubles matches to secure the opening point. After falling at No. 1 doubles,
Hunter Johnson and
Paul Fridman evened the tally with a 6-2 win at No. 2.
Conner Lloyd and
Andrew Greaves followed with a commanding 6-1 victory at No. 3 doubles to clinch the doubles point for Rhodes.
In singles play, the Lynx dominated five of six courts to seal the team win.
Oliver Bonovich set the tone at No. 1 singles with a decisive 6-2, 6-4 victory.
Christian Mainella added a straight-set win at No. 2, 6-3, 6-4, while
Owen Fellrath cruised 6-0, 6-1 at the No. 3 position.
Lloyd continued his strong day with a 6-1, 6-1 win at No. 5 singles, and
Jake Bravo capped the scoring with a 6-0, 6-1 victory at No. 6. Otterbein's lone point came at No. 4 singles in a competitive straight-set match.
With the win, Rhodes builds momentum as it continues early-season non-conference action.
