Game Recap: Rhodes vs. Piedmont University
In a high-scoring game filled with momentum swings, the Rhodes College Men's Lacrosse team defeated Piedmont University by a commanding 22–11 final score at Crain Field. After a tightly contested opening quarter, the Lynx erupted for nine goals in the second period to seize control and never looked back. Piedmont struck first and built a 4–2 advantage midway through the first quarter, but Rhodes responded with three goals in the final 54 seconds of the period to take a 5–4 lead into the break.

Senior, Andrew Murphy led the scoring effort for the Lynx with four goals, consistently attacking downhill and capitalizing on key possessions. He helped extend Rhodes' lead during the decisive stretch while freshman Griffin Galloway added three goals and multiple assists. His vision and quick decision-making sparked several scoring sequences, particularly during the dominant second quarter sophomore Giovanni Brosco and senior John Mori each recorded two goals. Junior Gavin Nagle contributed a goal and multiple assists, helping facilitate ball movement throughout the game. 11 additional Lynx found the back of the net, highlighting Rhodes' depth and balanced attack.Â

After trading blows early in the first quarter, Rhodes closed the frame with late goals from senior Nate Simon, Murphy, and sophomore Ihsan Omer in a 54-second burst to take a 5–4 lead. The Lynx opened the second quarter with three straight goals and later strung together a five-goal run, stretching the margin to 14–5 by halftime. Rhodes capitalized on extra-man opportunities and forced key defensive stops to push the pace. Rhodes continued to showcase their skill in the third quarter, adding five more goals, including back-to-back finishes from Brosco, to build a commanding 19–7 advantage entering the fourth. While Piedmont found some late offense, the Lynx answered with fourth-quarter goals from junior Evan Schmitt, freshman Tripp Christman, and freshman Rhys McCarthy to secure the 22–11 victory.
