Game Recap: Rhodes vs Sewanee and Southwestern
On Saturday September 27th, the Rhodes College Women's Volleyball team traveled to Mount Berry, Georgia to play Sewanee and Southwestern University. Though they fought hard, the Lynx went 0-2 on Saturday.Â

Offensively, in the game against Sewanee, freshman
Caroline Short led with 10 kills. In the second game against Southwestern, junior
Yzzi Dsamou led with 9 kills. Both hitters were crucial for putting points on the Lynx's scoreboard.Â

Luca Prest led with 16 assists and against Southwestern, junior setter
Emma Clark led with 14 assists.
In the backrow, junior libero
Olivia Wiseman led the defense in digs for both games. Against Sewanee, Olivia had 15 digs and against Southwestern she had 14, making her a valued asset in the Lynx's defense. Â
Game Highlights
The first set was a close match-up between the Lynx and the Sewanee Tigers. Notably in the first set, the Lynx's middle senior
Hope Wehrli and middle junior
Rachel Clarke, lead the team in kills with six kills out of the middle position. The Lynx fought through the close battle and won 25-23. The second set started off the same with the Lynx and Tigers going back and forth. Unfortunately, the Tigers found their momentum and went on a run. Freshman setter
Luca Prest went on a serving run to help the Lynx come back a little, but they fell short 19-25. Though the Lynx tried to battle in the third set, the Tigers had the momentum. The Lynx fell short in the third set 25-10. In response to their loss in the third set, the Lynx started the fourth set with a 10 point run led by serves from junior
Meg Gebhart and two kills from freshman
Caroline Short. However, the Tigers fought back with their own runs and the Lynx fell short 19-25. Overall, the game was 1-3, in favor of Sewanee.
Later in the day, the Lynx took on the Southwestern Pirates. Early in the set, junior
Yzzi Dsamou and junior
Rachel Clarke executed kills for the Lynx's scoreboard. Freshman middle
Martha Greene was also seen in this set securing some points for the Lynx. Though they fought hard, the Pirates maintained the upper hand and the Lynx lost the first set 18-25. Headed into the second set, the Pirates started with an early run, but the Lynx answered with their own, bringing the score to 14-17. Notably in this set, sophomore
Hadley Wright entered the game on the right side. The Lynx fell short again 17-25 in the second set. The third set was a battle for the Lynx as they tried to find their momentum. Towards the end, they went on a run with serves from freshman
Caroline Short and a kill from junior
Yzzi Dsamou, but ultimately fell short 20-25. Overall, the Lynx fell to the Pirates 0-3.Â
Game Recap: Rhodes vs OglethorpeÂ
On Sunday, September 29th the Rhodes College Women's Volleyball team took on Oglethorpe University in Mount Berry, Georgia. The Lynx swept the Stormy Petrels 3-0 to secure their second conference win. Â

The first set began with back to back points as both teams were trying to set the precedent for the game. Senior middle
Hope Wehrli got the Lynx on the scoreboard with an early kill, followed by an ace from junior
Meg Gebhart, and a kill by junior Yzzi Dasamou. The Lynx pulled away with a five point lead at the end of the match, but the Petrels crept up. Off a kill from freshman
Caroline Short, the Lynx took set one 25-23. Looking to keep their momentum, the Lynx started off early with a serving run from junior
Emma Clark. The Lynx kept their lead and worked together to beat the Petrels in the second set 25-18. Headed into the third set, the Lynx worked to get another notable lead with a serving run from junior libero
Olivia Wiseman. Though the Petrels went on a run of their own, the Lynx continued to fight and won the third set 25-22. This sweep against Oglethorpe marked the Lynx's second conference win. They will face the Petrels again on October 11th, this time on the Lynx's home court.

Now 8-10 overall and 2-4 in SAA play, Rhodes will travel to face Millsaps on October 9, 2025. The Lynx will look to regroup and continue to improve as conference play continues.
