Men's Lacrosse Dictate Colonels in Conference Win

MEMPHIS, TN – Men's lacrosse celebrated Senior Day with a thrilling 11-9 win over Centre College on Sunday afternoon at Crain Field. The Lynx improved to 9-4 overall and a perfect 4-0 in SAA play, while handing Centre its first conference loss of the season. They celebrated Drew Litner, Jack Wentz, Ben Johnson, Drew Downes, Fisher Roy, Owen Hipple, Dylan Farley, David Hart, Geist Pollock, Reed Dousevicz, Miles Pollack, Liam Sullivan, Nick Bilotti, Martin Maxim, Jake Gobel, and Charlie Herlocher.

Key Performances: The game opened with a statement as Rhodes surged to a 4-0 lead in the first quarter behind goals from John Mori, Nate Simon, Andrew Murphy, and Liam Sullivan. The Lynx moved the ball with confidence and capitalized on early offensive opportunities, feeding off the energy of the home crowd. Centre answered with three goals in the second quarter to pull the score within one, but Rhodes responded with a strike from Murphy, who finished with a hat trick on the day. The Lynx carried a narrow 5-4 lead into halftime.
The second half was a back-and-forth battle, but the Lynx offense remained composed, and key goals from Wyatt Bounds, Mori, and Gavin Nagle helped Rhodes maintain an edge. In the fourth quarter, with the score tied to 8-8, Bounds broke through with a powerful dodge to reclaim the lead. Moments later, Murphy completed his hat trick with a critical goal off a feed from Martin Maxim. Drew Downes sealed the game with a clutch finish assisted by Sullivan with under five minutes left in regulation.
Goalkeeper Jason Rubinstein anchored the defense with 10 saves as the offense out shot Centre 55-29 and dominated the ground ball battle 37-26. Jake Gobel led a gritty performance at the X winning 16 of 21 faceoffs.

Men's Lacrosse will hit the road for their next SAA matchup as they take on Southwestern University on Saturday, April 12th in Georgetown, Texas at 9:30 AM as the Lynx aim to stay perfect in conference play and extend their win streak.
