Women's Lacrosse Falls to UChicago

CHICAGO, IL – Women's lacrosse battled until the final whistle but came up short against the University of Chicago, falling 18-7 on Thursday evening at Stagg Field. The Lynx showed flashes of momentum, especially in the second half, but couldn't overcome an early scoring surge by the Maroons.

Key Performances: Rhodes fought hard to climb back from an early deficit on Thursday night, with Amelia Giese putting the Lynx on the board midway through the first quarter. Anna Erskine and Delaney O'Mailey connected on a pair of smart offensive possessions in the second, including a man-up goal from Erskine to help slow a fast-paced Chicago attack. Despite trailing 11-2 at halftime, the Lynx responded with grit in the second half. Caroline Kardian and Maddie BeVier each found the back of the net in the third, while strong draw control efforts from Kardian, Anna Samuelson, and Bari Pinkett helped shift momentum. Rhodes continued to battle in the fourth quarter, outscoring the Maroons 3-2 thanks to a pair of goals from Samuelson and another from Erskine. The Lynx posted 16 draw controls on the night and cleaned up their transitions in the final frame, converting on all clear attempts. O'Mailey tallied two assists and helped pace the attack in transition, while goalkeeper efforts kept Rhodes within striking distance. Though the final score read 18-7 in favor of UChicago, the Lynx showed resilience, composure, and key flashes of offensive and defensive rhythm they'll look to build on moving forward.
