Lynx Battled Hard Against Maroons

MEMPHIS, TN – The Rhodes College Lynx fought hard but ultimately fell to the Roanoke College Maroons, 16-5, at Mason Field. Despite the final score, the Lynx displayed relentless determination and resilience. The Lynx remained composed and kept a "blue head" throughout the contest, battling until the final whistle.

Key Performances:
The game started with an early strike from junior Nur Hamada at the 14:26 mark of the first quarter, putting the Lynx on the board first. However, Roanoke quickly responded and built momentum, closing out the first quarter with a 5-1 lead. Despite facing a strong offensive push from the Maroons, the Lynx defense held its ground, forcing 12 turnovers throughout the game.
Rhodes found moments of offensive success, with junior Caroline Kardian and first-year Payton Stevens netting second-quarter goals to cut into Roanoke's lead. At halftime, the Lynx trailed 9-3 but remained determined to fight back. The third quarter saw first-year Delaney O'Mailey add to the board for Rhodes, but Roanoke maintained their offensive pressure, extending their advantage. In the fourth, senior Anna Erskine capitalized on a woman-up opportunity to score the final goal for the Lynx, who continued to play with heart until the last whistle.
Despite the loss, the Lynx showed resilience in key areas. They won the draw control battle 14-11, demonstrating strong possession play. Rhodes' goalkeepers, Olivia Wood and Ford Hoon, combined 10 saves and made several key stops to keep Rhodes in close margins. The defensive effort was highlighted by a solid effort in ground ball hustle and caused turnovers.
