On March 14, Rhodes College stepped onto Mason Field ready to face No.19 Colorado College, a powerhouse in the league. Yet, despite the odds, Rhodes found moments of brilliance that told the story of their grit and determination.
In the opening quarter, it was Maddie BeVier who struck first for Rhodes, weaving through defenders to tie the game 1–1 and momentarily halting Colorado's momentum. Later in the quarter, Alban Erdle capitalized on a precise assist from Delaney O'Mailey, netting a goal that drew cheers from the Rhodes bench. The team's energy was palpable, even as Colorado pressed forward.
The second period saw Caroline Kardian break through Colorado's defense with a solo effort, firing a shot past the keeper to put another on the board for Rhodes. Toward the end of the half, Delaney O'Mailey added to the tally with a determined unassisted goal, a moment that underscored her leadership on the field.
In the second half, Rhodes continued to fight. Riley Schutt connected with Kardian for a third-quarter goal, showcasing their ability to create opportunities even against a staunch defense. In the final quarter, Amelia Giese delivered a stunning unassisted strike, and Maddie BeVier added her second goal of the game off another assist from O'Mailey, a testament to their never-quit spirit.
Though the final score read 18–7 in favor of Colorado, Rhodes left the field with heads held high. The team had battled fiercely, their effort marked by standout performances from BeVier, O'Mailey, and Kardian. It was a game that tested their resilience, and while the result wasn't what they wanted, Rhodes proved they had the heart to compete.
The Lynx will look to bounce back on Wednesday, March 19, when they take on Depauw University at 4pm on Mason Field.Â
