The 24th ranked Rhodes College baseball team returned home to Stauffer Field to kick off the Rhodes College Classic against the Oneonta Red Dragons. The Lynx looked to continue rolling on their hot start to the season and improve on their 6-1 record.
The Rhodes offense went to work immediately as they plated 3 runs in the bottom of the 1st, highlighted by a 2 RBI single off the bat of
Cooper Kuriger. Neither team would score until the bottom of the 4th when
Myles Kruger belted his 1st home run of the season, extending the Lynx lead to 4-1. From there, the offense took off scoring 8 more runs in the contest. Notable offensive performances include
Myles Kruger who went 2-3 with a double and a homer, as well as
Cooper Kuriger who also went 2-3 and drove in 2 runs.
Quinn Blackman also recorded a hit and went on to steal 3 bases in the game. The offensive explosion would be all the Lynx needed to propel them past the Dragons, and the final score would result in a 12-2 Rhodes victory.
On the mound,
Will May bounced back from his previous start by dealing 5.0 complete innings, striking out 4 and only allowing 1 run. May would be credited with the win and move his record to 1-1 on the season. The Lynx boost their record to 7-1 and will be back in action tomorrow from Stauffer field as they take on the Spalding Golden Eagles. First pitch is at 2 pm and coverage of the game will be broadcast on the Lynx Live Network.
