Rhodes Battles Hard in Gritty Contest Against Colorado College

Colorado Springs, CO – The Rhodes College Lynx showed relentless determination in their match-up against Colorado College, ultimately falling 21-12 in a game that showcased the Lynx's offensive versatility and defensive stops.

Key Performances: The game started with intensity as Rhodes took an early lead, fueled from Drew Downes just over a minute into play. Downes, who finished with a hat trick, added another goal shortly after, assisted by Nate Simon. Despite an aggressive response from the Tigers, the Lynx kept pace with a first-quarter goal from Andrew Murphy on a man-up opportunity, keeping the game close at 6-3 heading into the second period. The second quarter proved to be a high-scoring effort as John Mori, Wyatt Bounds, and Dylan Farley each found the back of the net, capitalizing on strong ball movement. Andrew Murphy continued to be a force, scoring his second goal on another extra-man opportunity. With a pair of goals from Drew Litner late in the quarter, the Lynx entered halftime trailing by just three (12-9.)

The Lynx had an impressive presence on the face off, winning 19 to Colorado's 15. Downes tallied his third goal of the game off an assist from Geist Pollock, and Bounds notched his second of the afternoon, but the Tigers managed to extend their lead with a strong offensive push. The fourth quarter proved the Lynx were continuing to fight, with Litner connecting once more off a feed from Murphy. Defensively, the Lynx were anchored by a strong performance in net, as Charlie Herlocher recorded 15 saves to keep the game competitive. David Hart initiated 2 caused turnovers and 3 ground balls to create more opportunities for the offense. Rhodes displayed resilience in transition, clearing the ball effectively. While the final score may not have been in the Lynx's favor, they demonstrated their offensive depth and tenacity having 6 different goal scorers. Rhodes will look to build on their performance as they move forward throughout the season.
