Women's Soccer Holds off the Stormy Petrels

Game Recap: Rhodes vs. Oglethorpe University

Rhodes women's soccer secured another conference win against the Oglethorpe Stormy Petrels on their home field in Memphis, Tennessee on October 11, 2025. It was a 2-1 victory for the Lynx and allows them to remain tied for first in conference standings.

Key Performances

Rhodes started the game swift and confidently and it was senior Grace Culver who put the  Lynx in the lead only five and a half minutes into the game. Culver demonstrated her technical abilities, dribbling through multiple of Oglethorpe's players before shooting the ball and ultimately placing it in the back of the net. Throughout the rest of the half, Rhodes possessed and attempted to create more attacking chances, ultimately unable to add another goal to the scoreboard by halftime. Oglethorpe made it difficult for Rhodes and forced some tough battles in the Lynx' defensive third, but Rhodes were able to stay composed and in the lead. In the second half, the Lynx came out strong with senior Reese Owens managing to shoot and score, making the score 2-0. Oglethorpe continued to put up a fight, and in a 1 v 1 the Stormy Petrels scored in the 75th minute. Oglethorpe scrambled to level out the score, and Rhodes made it difficult by maintaining possession in the very corner of the field in their attacking third. It was Rhodes who came out on top, obtaining their third SAA win.
