Football Falls to Millsaps

The Rhodes College football team showed grit and offensive firepower on Saturday afternoon at Crain Field, putting together multiple long scoring drives before ultimately falling to Millsaps, 45–19.

Despite the final score, the Lynx offense demonstrated balance and resilience, posting 340 total yards. Quarterbacks Taylor Haas and Brennan Keim combined for 242 passing yards and two touchdowns, while running back Robert Daniel added a rushing score of his own.

Rhodes got on the board in the second quarter when Haas connected with Clayton Gehman on a 14-yard touchdown pass to cap a 9-play, 81-yard drive. Later in the half, Keim led another impressive series spanning 13 plays and 66 yards, finding Austin Smith in the end zone from 18 yards out to bring the score to 28–13 before halftime.

The Lynx continued their momentum early in the third quarter with a methodical 10-play, 75-yard drive, highlighted by strong runs from Daniel. The senior capped it off himself with a 1-yard touchdown plunge to make it 31–19.

Offensively, Smith was a consistent target throughout the day, hauling in seven receptions for 69 yards and a touchdown, while Felix Koerner added 63 yards on four catches, including a 36-yard strike that set up a score. Gehman finished with three receptions for 25 yards and a touchdown.

Defensively, Nick Persiano led the way with eight total tackles, while Lawrence Watts added seven stops and Chyco Williams provided a defensive spark with a 38-yard interception return. The Lynx defense held Millsaps scoreless in the third quarter and forced one turnover.

The Lynx fall to 1-4 on the season and will look to bounce back next weekend when they travel to face Trinity College in another SAA matchup. Kickoff is scheduled for 12:00 PM on Saturday, October 18.
