Once again for the Lynx it was their defense that carried them in the first half as they started off slow against Oglethorpe's 2-3 zone. The Lynx's starting five looked uncomfortable as they missed open threes and had a couple careless turnovers. Luckily this talented Rhodes team has a lot of depth, which was displayed in this game. Coming out of the first media timeout a whole new five came in and their energy was through the roof. They knew that the team was struggling on offense so their defensive intensity carried them to a 17-7 run to go up 7 with 8 minutes left in the half. After that run, the game looked open for Rhodes as their explosive offense was unlocked by the turnovers and bad shots that they forced on the Petrels. By halftime Rhodes was comfortably up 36-24.
In the second half, the Lynx came out steady as both teams were trading buckets. Oglethorpe kept chipping away at the lead but Rhodes did not falter as they were in complete control of the game until they went on a 2 minute scoring drought starting at the 4 minute mark. During that time the Lynx got the open shots that they were looking for and even getting second and third chance opportunities. However, those possessions ended with turnovers or long rebounds that led to an Oglethorpe fast break. With 2:47 remaining, Rhodes lost their lead for the first time to go down 64-65. That didn't matter though, as senior guard
Kaleb Green took over and scored ten points to help the Lynx overcome Oglethorpe's second half rally. Rhodes ultimately won the game 76-70.
Team Statistics:
- Shot 88% from the free throw line
