Lynx Drop Close Contest on the Road

In a thrilling contest on January 17 at Juhan Gymnasium, Rhodes came within three points of victory, falling to Sewanee 86-83 in a hard-fought SAA matchup. The game demonstrated Rhodes' grit and determination, with standout performances across the roster.

Key Performers:
- Shawn Jones Jr. had 24 points, 8 rebounds, 6 assists, 3 steals, and 1 block
- Phil Dotson and Max Adelman both had 14 points

Rhodes started the game off strong as their defensive intensity stunned Sewanee. Sewanee, who is known for their high-tempo offense, was forced by Rhodes to take contested threes and out of control layups that led to easy fast-break points to go up 8-2 with three minutes into the game. Rhodes looked completely in-control of the game until a fast-break and-one layup from Sewanee erupted the gym causing the Tigers to awake. After that play, both teams were traded off buckets. Rhodes who's feared for their three point shooting ability shot poorly from three, but they attacked the rim relentlessly and never settled for tough jumpers. The halftime score was 45-43.

The second half was just as competitive as the first. The Lynx found their shooting stroke as Max Adelman and Phil Dotson hit a barrage of threes. With 10 minutes to go, up six, it looked like Rhodes was finding their groove and was about to extend their lead. However, untimely turnovers by the Lynx caused them to lose their lead for the first time of the game at the 5:51 mark. Down five with a 1:30 left, Shawn Jones Jr. scored a tough bucket to cut the deficit by three. The Lynx full court press came away with a steal and a Jones Jr. dunk to cut Sewanee's lead by one. Unfortunately, Sewanee came down and hit a tough layup with 30 seconds to go. Down three and coming off a timeout, the Lynx were unable to get a three off and ultimate lost to 83-86.

Team Statistics:
- 46 rebounds (22 offensive)
- 38 bench points
