The Rhodes Women's tennis team had a busy, competitive weekend with 3 tough matches. They faced Shorter University (GA) on Thursday, Ouachita Baptist University (AR) on Friday, and Lane College (TN) on Saturday, all of which are NCAA Division II schools.
On Thursday, The Lynx fell to Shorter University 3-4.
Gracie Rask and
Emma McHale clinched the lone doubles win 6-4. On the singles side, there were competitive matches all around, with victories coming from Grace Rask at the No.3 position,
Sofia Rodriguez at the No.4 spot, and
Cami Lowry at the No. 6 position.
On Friday, the Lynx faced a tough match against Ouachita Baptist University, falling 8-1. The doubles teams put up a good fight, all winning at least 2 games in their respective matches. Zainab Beba showed a strong performance on the singles side, winning 6-4 and 7-5 against her opponent.
On a positive note, the Lynx concluded the weekend with a solid win against Lane College 8-1. At No. 1 doubles,
Sofia Rodriguez and
Anna Rush won 8-4. At No. 2. doubles,
Mijntje Blank and
Taylor Nash showed a strong performance, winning 8-0. The third doubles match was a Win-by-Default for the Lynx. On the singles side,
Gracie Rask lost a competitive battle at the No. 1 position.
Taylor Nash,
Mijntje Blank, and
Cami Lowry displayed strong wins at positions 2, 3, and 4. Lane College forfeited the other two singles positions.
After a busy weekend, the Lynx will prepare for their Spring Break Matches in Hilton Head Island, SC, which will take place from March 9 – March 17.
