The Rhodes Lynx fell to the Belhaven Blazers on their first road trip of the season by a score of 9-5. It was a bullpen day for both sides, as the Lynx sent 6 pitchers to toe the slab, and the Blazers sent 8.
Kade Meyer made his first start of the year, going 2 innings and giving up 4. Reid Lampert, Ben Daniel, Kevin Barnett, Colby Slaughter, and Hank Shield all recorded innings for the Lynx as well.
The offense came in the third off the bats of Eli Selby, who recorded a SAC fly, and Ben Burkhart, who sent his first homer of the year sailing over the left-center field fence. In the 5th, Burkhart also recorded an RBI single, and freshman Myles Kruger recorded an RBI fielder's choice.
The Lynx begin conference play this weekend as they take on the Centre Colonels at Stauffer Field.
