Lynx Bounce Back with Homecoming Victory

The Rhodes College Football team came back to their home turf this week to take on conference foe Millsaps College at Crain Field. The Lynx looked like a brand new team this week as they dominated all facets of the game and were able to put away the Majors in the final quarter.

The Rhodes offense, led by quarterback Evan Reeder, began the game by converting their first 3 drives into touchdowns which gave them a 21-7 advantage with 11:15 to play in the first half. Evan Reeder paved the way with over 150 passing yards in the first half, connecting with Andrew Pickens for a 37-yard touchdown strike. He also used his legs to rush for another touchdown and provide extra support for the defense.

The special teams units showed up as well as a 57-yard punt from Kellen Gehres was downed at the 2-yard line, putting the pressure on the Millsaps offense with just over 2:00 left in the half. Shortly after, Cooper Pennington broke off a 47-yard punt return to set the Lynx offense up with good field position. The Lynx were able to capitalize with a field goal off the foot of Logan Ahern that sent the game to halftime with a 24-10 Rhodes lead.

The Lynx did not look back from there as they kept their foot on the gas throughout the second half. Defensively, J.D. Davis recorded 2 sacks and put a stop to the Millsaps passing attack. Evan Reeder continued his impressive outing by running for his 3rd touchdown of the game and driving the final nail in the coffin. Brent Barlow was the team's top receiver with 7 receptions for 100 yards. The Lynx would walk away with a victory on homecoming weekend by a final score of 31-24.

The Lynx will hit the road once again as they travel to Danville, Kentucky to take on the Centre College Colonels. The game is set to kick off at noon on November 9th.
