Rhodes Sweeps SAA Women's Swimming and Diving Athletes of the Week

The Rhodes College women's swimming and diving team had an impressive weekend on the road, securing victories over both Ozarks and Hendrix in dual meets, and earning both Southern Athletic Association (SAA) Women's Athlete of the Week honors for swimming and diving.

Swimmer of the Week: Adeline Carroll (Vestavia Hills, Ala.)
Senior Adeline Carroll delivered top-tier performances across multiple events, anchoring a successful weekend for the Lynx. On Friday, Carroll anchored the winning 200 medley relay with a blazing 24.07 split, contributing to a team time of 1:51.29. She then captured first place in the 1000 freestyle with a time of 10:50.84 and added another win in the 100 freestyle, finishing in 54.43. Her standout weekend continued as she clocked the fastest split in the 200 free relay (24.65), helping the team finish in 1:42.23.

Carroll followed up with an even stronger performance on Saturday, anchoring the 200 medley relay in 1:50.07. She secured individual victories in the 200 freestyle (1:57.46) and the 200 IM (2:11.27), winning the IM by more than five seconds. Carroll capped off her dominant weekend by anchoring the 400 free relay, posting a split of 54.42 as her team finished in 3:40.33.

Diver of the Week: Lucy Verwys (Grand Rapids, Mich.)
First-year standout Lucy Verwys continued to impress in her debut season, claiming victories on both the 1-meter and 3-meter boards. On Friday, Verwys won the 1-meter event for 11 dives with a regional qualifying score of 410.85, highlighting her precision and consistency. She followed that performance with another win on Saturday, securing first place in the 1-meter competition for six dives with a score of 243.15, and then triumphing on the 3-meter board with a score of 231.45.

Both Carroll and Verwys played critical roles in Rhodes' back-to-back wins and were instrumental in leading the Lynx to a successful weekend on the road.
