Women's Swimming & Diving Team Dominate the Eagles and Warriors

Rhodes had a strong weekend in both swim meets this past Friday, October 4th, and Saturday, October 5th. The Lynx breezed past the University of the Ozarks Eagles and their second conference competitor, the Hendrix Warriors, this past weekend. 

Friday, October 4th: Rhodes vs University of the Ozarks

First for the women, against the Eagles, the Lady Lynx took the entire podium for 13 events, with the remaining events having first place appearances from Rhodes. Within the first event the Lynx had a stand out performance, with the 200 Yard Medley A team (Gracie Shapard, Paxton Smythe, Eliza Hulverson, and Adeline Carroll) besting their previous meet time with a 1:51.29 time. The B team (Mariam Hadaegh, Autumn Bruns, MacKenzie Roach, and Calista Kelner) and C team (Ainsley Clark, Kallen Huth, Taylor McNerney, and Abby Carter) followed closely behind with a 1:56.28 time and 1:57.66 time, respectively. Adeline Carroll and Syndey Kalange had strong performances in the 1000 yard Freestyle, taking first (10:50.84) and second (11:45.81), respectively. 

On the diving side, the Women took the first and second for a majority of the dives, with Lucy Verwys taking first for the whole meet and Annabelle Morle taking second for 1 meter diving event. Lucy Verwys' total score came to 410.85.

Saturday, October 5th: Rhodes vs Hendrix

The lynx came out on top again against their conference competitor, taking the whole podium for 11 events, with a majority of the events having first place appearances from the Rhodes Lynx. 

For team relays, the A team (same as the previous team named above) came out on top again for the 200 Yd Medley with a 1:50.07 time, and the B and C teams (same as the team named above) gained second and third, with 1:56.04 and 1:59.17 times, respectively. A similar result can be seen with the 400 Yd Freestyle relay, with the A team (same as previously stated) taking first with a time of 3:40.33. The B team (Mackenzie Roach, Taylor McNerney, Kallen Huth, and Calista Kelner) took second with 3:47.72, and our C team (Annie Murer,Abby Carter, Mariam Hadaegh, CarolinenNetolicky), took third with a sub 4-minute time.

Diving performances were strong for Lucy Verwys and Anabelle Morle, with no competition for the Rhodes Divers, they built upon the already stacked score against the warriors.

Looking Forward: Rhodes vs. University of Tennessee Southern

Rhodes will be hosting their next meet against the University of Tennessee Southern on Saturday, the 19th. The teams have faced the Hawks once in the past, ending in a victory for the lynx. The meet is bound to have exciting performances in the pool, and fans are encouraged to support the team.
