The Lynx remained in Sewanee for their second game of fall break. On October 19, 2024, they Faced the Mary Washington University Eagles for their second official CFHC conference game. The Eagles and Lynx battled it out in an intense match but ultimately the Lynx were victorious in a double overtime win.  

RECAP: RHODES VS. Mary Washington University  

Both the Eagles and the Lynx came into this game with relentless grit and intensity. The first half remained in a deadlock after competitive neck-and-neck play. Mary Washington's Grayson Scott broke this stalemate at 45:53, giving the Eagles a lead. Unfazed, the Lynx found the equalizer at 50:36 with Lora Chandler scoring her first collegiate goal. Regular time ended at a 1-1 standstill, which persisted though the first overtime. Entering the second overtime with undiminished determination, Alder Dickey was able to find the back of the net at 71:00, securing the Lynx a 2-1 double overtime victory.

• Rhodes College: 8 total shots (3 on goal), 10 saves, 4 penalty corners. 

• Mary Washington University: 19 total shots (11 on goal), 1 save, 10 penalty corners. 

Key Performances:  

• Alder Dickey: Provided an assist and deflected in the final goal, securing the Lynx win.  

• Elinor West: Played essential defense in a high intensity game by having multiple goal line saves and providing strong tackles.  

• Zoey Dzialowski: Was a strong force on the defensive and midfield line by creating scoring opportunity and transferring the ball up the line.

The Rhodes college field hockey team has one remaining game during fall break. Catch the Lynx in Virginia, to play the Chistopher Newport University Captains on October 21, 2024. This will be a challenging non-conference game so be sure to tune in to cheer on Rhodes.
