Friday, Oct. 18– The Rhodes Men's Soccer team achieved a 3-2 win against rivals Sewanee Tigers on Friday, October 18, 2024 at home in Memphis, TN. After scoring 3 in the first half and going into the break 3-0. The Lynx held on after allowing the Tigers two goals in the second half to take their conference record to 3-1.
Match Recap: Rhodes vs. Sewanee
The Lynx, currently ranked No. 6 in the region, were facing a hot Sewanee team coming off a two-match win streak. With the win, Rhodes handed Sewanee their second loss in conference, after an electric game which saw many shots for each team.
This heated matchup saw a tale of two halves. The Lynx dominated the first half with 10 shots and 3 goals. The first goal came in the 13th minute off of a set piece by senior Eli Pilcher. In the 20th minute, fellow senior, Evan Buecker, snatched his first of the season with a header assisted by freshman Matthew Sucato. Finally, in the 34th minute, sophomore Luke Grant finished off a chance with yet another assist provided by Sucato.
The Tigers came out strong in the second half scoring their first in the 48th minute and their second in the 56th. The Lynx were able to see the match out and secure the win.
