This weekend, the Rhodes Women's Volleyball team went 1-1 at home. On Friday, October 11th, the Lynx played Berry College. The following day on Saturday, October 12th, the Lynx played Oglethorpe University and celebrated senior
Kym Young.
RECAP RHODES VS BERRY
The first set started off slow for the Lynx with the Vikings going on an early run. However, the Lynx fought back and with 5 kills from sophomore hitter
Yzzi Dsamou, the Lynx began to put points on the scoreboard. The Lynx continued to battle for the remainder of the set with help from sophomore middle
Rachel Clarke, junior middle Hope Wehril, and senior
Kym Young, but they fell short 16-25.
With the momentum on their side, the Vikings started off the second set on another run. With assists from sophomore setter
Emma Clark, senior hitter
Kym Young had 4 kills this set to help her team. The Lynx fought to catch up to the Vikings but lost the second set 14-25.
The third set started off better for the Lynx with a fast kill from sophomore hitter
Meg Gebhart, assisted by junior setter
Mackenzie Geer. Sophomore hitter
Yzzi Dsamou had 5 kills this set, helping the Lynx to gain some points. Unfortunately, the Vikings went on a later run and won the third set 25-14. The final set score was 0-3, with a second conference loss for the Lynx.

RECAP RHODES VS OGLETHORPE
On Saturday, October 12th Rhodes hosted a senior day in honor of right-side hitter
Kym Young. On the court, Kym is a reliable hitter and energetic cheerleader for all her teammates. Off the court, Kym is a friend to all and always brings a smile to her teammates faces with her silly dance moves. The Lynx dedicated this game to Kym and all she has given to the Rhodes volleyball program for the last four years.
The first set went back and forth with both teams putting points up on the scoreboard. At one point, the Petrels went on a run, but the Lynx fought back and tied the game 22-22. Both teams battled until sophomore hitter
Meg Gebhart got a kill to give the Lynx a first set win, 29-27. Senior
Kym Young had 6 kills, sophomore hitter
Yzzi Dsamou had 4 kills, and sophomore hitter
Meg Gebhart had 3 kills.
The second set was a game of runs with both teams achieving multiple points in a row. At point 18, sophomore setter
Emma Clark went on a 6-point serving run with 3 service aces to give the Lynx a lead 24-19. After a few more points, the Lynx won the second set 25-21. With the goal to win the game in honor of Kym, the Lynx were determined to win the third set. Early in the game,
Meg Gebhart got two kills to give the Lynx momentum. Halfway through the game
Emma Clarke went on another service run giving the Lynx the advantage.
Kym Young had 6 kills and
Yzzi Dsamou had 6 kills to help the Lynx. On the last play of the game,
Emma Clark set
Kym Young and she got the kill winning the set 25-20 on her senior day. The Lynx won the game 3-0!

Next weekend, the Lynx will travel to Sewanee, Tennessee to play Sewanee on October 19th. The following day, the Lynx will go to Danville, Kentucky to play Centre College. These matches mark the beginning of the second half of the season.
